Although my main niche remains architecture and design, my work has carried me into a variety of related publications and areas of expertise.

AIA|DC News: Editor
I’ve edited the News for the DC chapter of the AIA since 2007. We publish ten print editions a year. The best thing about the AIA|DC News is sitting in the catbird seat for every interesting residential, commercial and institutional project that comes to town.

Chesapeake Home: Regular Contributor
I’ve been a proud contributor to Chesapeake Home Magazine since 2006. In that time I’ve established a close working relationship with the editor which has allowed me to write about the design elements of fine art, motorcycles, shacks, sheds, and literally dozens of beautiful homes.

The Washington Post: Contributor
As a local resident and loyal reader of the Post I remain completely knocked-out by the excellence that defines one of the premier daily newspapers in the world. I’ve been lucky enough to work with two outstanding editors at the Home and Real Estate sections and I still do occasionally pitch stories to The Washington Post.

DC Modern Luxury Magazine: Regular Contributor
Short features and luxurious, long layouts, DC Magazine has assigned me sports stories, food-based pieces, interesting artist profiles and design features. Cutting edge trends, tight turnarounds and always way-cool graphics make it hard for me to turn down anything from DC Magazine.

Automotive
Auto Exec: Columnist, Feature Writer
My father worked in the automotive industry. As a kid, I installed studs into snow tires, pumped gas, checked oil, and spent more than one Saturday rolling tires off trucks and working on my own rides. My brother is an ASE Master Tech and although most of the actual mechanical ability in the family went to him, I can talk cars. I’ve also written quite a bit about them for trade publications professional associations and web copy.

Energy
The Washington Post, Auto Exec, Electric Co-op Today, API Custom Publishing
Houses, buildings and cars require energy to function. This simple fact carries me into writing about solar power, hybrid cars, conservation, electric co-ops, wind energy, LEED, BIM, passive solar, biofuels, net metering and all that other jazz that falls under the category of “energy writer.”

Urban Planning
In 2008, I accepted a part-time position with the National Capital Planning Commission, an independent agency of the federal government. NCPC functions as the nation’s urban planning entity in determining policy and safeguarding the federal interest in the District of Columbia. Working as a Multimedia Specialist attached to the Office of Public Affairs, I write about urban planning for the agency’s annual report and the Quarterly Newsletter.
